I’m sure you have that friend who just love to cook, kept on going with their new found recipe everytime you have a chat with them, or just a chef friend.

It comes the time you wanting to give them something as a gift, and you want it to be practical to them. (While you can totally choose not to get something related to cooking, but you just want to, aren’t you?)

Knives

Sure you see this coming, a knife. Yes, a knife, whether you read it like “nai-ve” or “ke-nif” (for some reason), is the thing that cuts things in kitchen.

Knives are the essential tools in the kitchen, separate a tomato in half without squeezing the tomato, slice through meat like they were toufu, you know those satisfying feeling even you have never cook before.

It needs to be sharp, firm and comfortable for grip, it would be sexier with some “dazzling”

Sharpening Stone

Well then, now that we have talked about knife, or you know you are not gonna get a knife for your friend because they have too many knives.

How about a sharpening stone?

Every kitchen needs a good sharpening stone to keep all the knives at edges :))

Cutting with a dull knife is not a good experience, vegs got squashed, meat is not separated cleanly, therefore having the sharpening tool nearby is always handy, sharpening the knife as you cut.

Your friend probably won’t expecting you to get a sharpening stone for them, it could be a good surprise too!

Cutting Board

Now now, it won’t be complete without a cutting board after I have talked about knife.

A wooden cutting board is a must to have in kitchen, why would you cut on a plastic? Right?

Not only it can be aesthetically pleasing, it does make you feel like a chef when you bring out a wooden board rather than a plastic one.

The chopping sound of the knife edge hitting the wood is so satisfying too 😀

If you are choosing a cutting board, go with the one with “liquid channel” or “crumbs catcher”, a line of dent that surround the board.

Cutting board with juice groove, save the mess.

Scale

When the recipe calls for 100g of flour, how do you pour a 100g?

With a scale of course!

Every chef needs a scale to weigh out an ingredient when they need to exact amount.

Is you friend having a scale sitting in a corner or hiding inside cabinet behind some cans?

Taking the ingredient towards the scale risking scatter the stuffs, we should bring the scale towards us!

Give your friend a portable and convenient scale to ease his food prepping!
