Have a furry friend in the house? New to this little pet animal thingy called rabbit? Have been looked around and couldn’t find a good book describing all-you-need-to-know about keeping a furry companion? Want a book fillled with loads of cuteness? Well, that was the case for me, someone who lives in Malaysia where rabbit pet isn’t a “serious” thing yet.
I have browsed through many bookstores in Malaysia for books on rabbit. And it just isn’t any. When you reach a pet section, which usually takes up a whole rack, there would be only books about dogs and cats, occasionally some fish care, oh, and hamster.
Until I have found some books in amazon (after the realisation that we can buy books online)
1. Training Your Pet Rabbit (Training Your Pet Series)
Woh woh woh, not so fast, hold your rabbits.
Did i just put a train your rabbit book first on the list? Nah, don’t get scare by the title, it has the how to care for your rabbit part, as well as step-by-step how to teach your rabbit some command words. It also comes with info for indoor outdoor cages for rabbits. (As mentioned on the product descriptions, nope, I did not read the book)
It covers how to design the cage so that rabbit can have most the fun out of it, selecting healthy rewards for good behaviours. Color photos on most pages. (You know, important to see the picture rather than pure texts)
2. Rabbits For Dummies
Now, when you want to know about something, the dummies series is always there isn’t it? For those rabbit newbies, this rabbits for dummies can be as great as bible for rabbit. (Including the feeling of holding a dummies series book in hand, believing you will become a rabbit master after reading this book. Well, maybe almost every title in dummies series gives off that feel)
It can just be like other dummies books, getting too technical to some people (Psst, again I did not read the book, saw it on some reviews), yet get its job done by delivering all the info you need for a happy furry friend. A direct piece from the description:
- Informative photos and illustrations
- Detailed breed descriptions
- How to think like a rabbit
- Tips for handling bad bunny behavior
- The latest on organic cuisine and homegrown feeding options
- Games to play with your rabbit
- How to live with an indoor bunny (which is recommended!)
- Ten signs that require emergency action
- A bunch of bunny resources — from rescue groups to registries to Web sites
3. The Bunny Lover’s Complete Guide To House Rabbits: The Ultimate Handbook for Successfully Living Indoors with a Pet Rabbit
You know the book is good, when its title is long. As mentioned in the title, bunny lover’s complete guide to house rabbits, how would it not fit as a present for bunny lover? Comes in 188 pages, and dozens of photos. (again, rabbits’ photos are just irresistible aren’t they?)
Step by step instruction on everything from how to properly house and feed your bunny to litter-box training to finding the right vet to socializing your bun and beyond~
It is one good reference to have, to have a happy bunny. A direct piece from the description:
- Find out whether a rabbit is really the right pet for you
- Select the appropriate rabbit vet for your bunny
- Know what—and what not—to feed your bunny (hint: carrots aren’t it!)
- Understand why rabbits should always live indoors
- Interact and play with your bunny
- Discover what “bunny-proofing” is, and how to do it
- Learn bunny language and what your rabbit is saying to you
- Train, socialize, and groom your rabbit
- Bond your bunny with another rabbit
- Recognize medical issues from common to critical
4. The Too Cute Coloring Book: Bunnies
You must say, a house rabbit owner must love their little furry friend right? Or else who would spend time to take care of these wire chewer, and carpet chewer, right?
This may be a pre-school colouring book. But hey, I don’t mind to receive a book full of bunnies images as a gift. Plus, I can decide what colour they are 😀
Comes in 96 pages, full of super cute bunnies. You can always pull out the pages to share the cuteness of bunnies to anyone you like.
5. Just Bunnies 2018 Wall Calendar
Well, this is not really a book. It’s a flipping Calendar! (see what I did there :D)
Comes in the size of 11.9 x 0.1 x 11.9 inches. Contains calendar for 2018. (obviously) Also included are six bonus months of July through December 2017, moon phases, and U.S. and international holidays.
The main point (mine) here is totally not because this is a calendar. But becasue it is full of bunny-ness! You can totally buy it after 2018 (if it is still selling that is) for the photograph of rabbits. Who doesn’t like a good rabbit photo as a poster?
